Dan Lanning Reveals His Insane Morning Alarm Routine as Oregon's Football Coach

The Oregon Ducks have been in the spotlight all week. Ranked No. 3 heading into a Week 7 battle against the No. 2-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes, the Ducks absolutely delivered, defeating them 32-31 in a tightly contested game.

With ten seconds on the clock, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning sent 12 players onto the field, picking up a flag. Having made a stop, the Ducks essentially gave the Buckeyes five free yards in exchange for four seconds of the clock running off.

The play clock then only had six seconds remaining, not enough for them to do anything. Ohio State quarterback Will Howard scrambled and slid with time expiring.

Lanning has since been in the spotlight, as he was praised for the idea of intentionally taking the flag, setting his team up for a victory. The NCAA has since investigated the play and removed the loophole from the sport, but it'll be remembered forever.

While he's in the spotlight, Lanning appeared on the "Dan Patrick Show," where he revealed his crazy alarm clock routine. He had alarms posted in short increments starting at 4:30 a.m., leading to 5 a.m.

Lanning is obviously doing something right in terms of routine and building a culture -- that starts by setting an example. Being up early and ready to work is what Lanning does, and that spreads throughout his program.

Since arriving in Eugene, Lanning has done an incredible job at building a program set to be a perennial playoff contender. He even turned down a chance to succeed Nick Saban in Alabama by staying at Oregon to build a legacy there.

There might not be a better program guy than Lanning.
