Travis Kelce Gets Honest About Downside of Taylor Swift Date Night

Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce used his bye week to spend some quality time with his girlfriend Taylor Swift. This involved an action-packed trip to New York City, which the couple capped off by attending Monday's Game 1 action between the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Championship Series.

Kelce recounted the experience on Thursday's episode of his "New Heights" podcast with his brother Jason Kelce. While the Chiefs tight end raved about his date night activity with his pop megastar girlfriend, Travis Kelce also made an honest admission about why he had "mixed feelings" about the whole affair.

"I mean the whole time I'm just screaming," Kelce said . "I'm in hostile territory because it's the Bronx Bombers and I'm at the Yankee Stadium in the playoffs. I'm over here cheering for the Guards because I'm a Cleveland kid and I want to see Cleveland win a f------- World Series.

"It was mixed feelings because I was there trying to have some fun with Tay and everybody. ... It was fun. Even though the Guards couldn't pull it off, it was still an exciting, exciting game."

Kelce was born in Westlake, Ohio and he went to high school at Cleveland Heights High School, which is located in his hometown of Cleveland Heights. As he revealed in his statement above, the All-Pro tight end grew up as a Guardians fan, and the fact that they suffered a loss on Monday against the Yankees was a tough pill for him to swallow.

The last time Cleveland won a World Series was back in 1948, which was more than four decades before Kelce was born. As he said, he's desperate to see the Guardians win a championship, and Kelce was hoping that this would be their year.

Unfortunately for him, Cleveland is now down 2-0 in the series after suffering a 6-3 loss in Game 2 on Tuesday. The silver lining, though, is that this best-of-seven series now shifts to Cleveland for Games 3 through 5, giving the Guardians a chance to battle back.

As for Kelce, it's now time to return to his day job following his brief mid-season break. The Chiefs are back in action on Sunday in a much-awaited Super Bowl rematch against the San Francisco 49ers.

Swift, on the other hand, will resume her "Eras Tour" concert series on Friday in Miami, which means that the couple will need to spend some time apart in the days/weeks to come.
