Could Chiefs Bring Back Receiver After Recent Release?

The Kansas City Chiefs travel to face the San Francisco 49ers in a Super Bowl rematch on Sunday.

While it may be a rematch of last season's championship, the Chiefs will be missing multiple offensive starters that had an impact on that championship team.

Kansas City definitely won't be getting Rashee Rice or Isiah Pacheco back, as they're on injured reserve, but there is one member of that Super Bowl-winning roster that the Chiefs could bring back before the rematch.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who was on the Chiefs' past two Super Bowl teams, was released by the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday after they traded for Pro Bowl receiver Amari Cooper.

Valdes-Scantling did not have much of an impact in Buffalo, totaling just two catches for 26 yards in six games. However, he does have experience in Andy Reid's system. In two seasons with the Chiefs, Valdes-Scantling had 63 catches for 1,002 yards and three touchdowns.

JuJu Smith-Schuster has already seen success in his return to the Chiefs after struggling last season with the New England Patriots, so it's very feasible that Valdes-Scantling could see similar success.

Kansas City could use some depth in their receivers room with Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown already out for the season, and Valdes-Scantling would be very cheap.

Earlier in the week, Mahomes preached having a locker room of guys that he's comfortable with, so it likely wouldn't cause any problems to bring back a guy that he knows and has won championships with.
