The Philadelphia 76ers saw another one of their players get hurt in the preseason. Two days after Sixers star Paul George injured his knee against the Atlanta Hawks, Philly rookie Jared McCain took a hard fall late in Wednesday’s game versus the visiting Brooklyn Nets at Wells Fargo Center.

The former Duke Blue Devils star fell to the ground after trying to collect an offensive rebound off of his own miss with just a little over four minutes left in the fourth quarter. McCain landed completely on his back and he spent some time on the floor in visible pain.

Sixers head coach Nick Nurse provided an update following the game, telling reporters that McCain was on his way to the hospital for further evaluation, per Tim Bontemps of ESPN .

"He was having some trouble breathing there,” Nurse said (h/t PHLY Sixers ).

“I thought maybe got the wind knocked out of him. Not sure what was going on there but never quite seen one like that before."

Before he exited the Nets game, McCain had nine points – all via 3-pointers – with seven rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes of action.

The Sixers, who ended up beating Brooklyn, 117-95, will have to hope that McCain’s injury isn’t serious.

Philadelphia has a preseason game left to play before the regular season, as the 76ers are set to meet the Orlando Magic on Friday away from home. After that, Philadelphia will prepare for its season-opener against the Milwaukee Bucks on Oct. 23 against the Milwaukee Bucks at Wells Fargo Center.
