One Los Angeles Dodgers Star Has Stolen The Show In The 2024 Playoffs

One MLB star has been lighting it up in the postseason, and it may not be an obvious answer.

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York Mets 8-0 in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series on Wednesday. The Dodgers took a 2-1 series lead thanks to a few key at-bats.

The Dodgers took a 2-0 lead into the top of the sixth inning with the bottom part of their lineup due up. Kiké Hernandez came up to bat with a runner on first and two outs. He sent a deep drive to left field to increase the Dodgers’ lead and add to his impressive postseason totals.

Hernandez’s 15 career playoff home runs are the most by any active player left playing. Aaron Judge is second among players still in the postseason with 14 homers.

Hernandez also carried 32 RBIs and a .907 OPS throughout his postseason career. Those stats are all better than somebody like Judge who has 29 RBIs and a .769 OPS in one more playoff plate appearance.

Hernandez started the 2024 postseason on the bench for the Dodgers. Miguel Rojas has been dealing with a hernia, which ultimately pushed him to the bench during the team’s ALDS series against the San Diego Padres. Tommy Edman shifted from centerfield to shortstop and Hernandez has been the Dodgers’ everyday centerfielder ever since.

The Dodgers are two games away from punching their ticket to the World Series. The Yankees have a 2-0 lead over the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Championship Series.
