    ESPN Reveals Big Kendrick Perkins Career News Right Before NBA Season

    Three more days are left in the NBA preseason. Following a short break after the last day of exhibition matches on Friday, the league's regular season will start on Tuesday.

    ESPN has been making significant personnel's moves ahead of he regular season. With Adrian Wojnarowski leavng his reporting gig to become the general manager of the St. Bonaventure Bonnies men's basketball team in the offseason, the network signed Shams Charania away from The Athletic to become their Senior NBA Insider.

    ESPN had major news Thursday morning for former NBA player turned-analyst Kendrick Perkins. Perkins has been covering the league for ESPN since 2019.

    According to a statement by ESPN's press room, Perkins has agreed to a multi-year extension with the network before the start of the NBA's regular season. He will appear on ABC editions of "NBA Countdown" this season.

    Perkins will also continue to serve in his role as an analyst for "NBA Today", and be a contributing huest on "Get Up", "First Take", "Hoop Streams" and "Sports Center."

    "Blessed," Perkins responded to the news release on his X account.

    Perkins, a native of Nederland, Texas, played high school basketball at Clifton J. Ozen High School in Beaumont, Texas before entering the 2003 NBA Draft.

    Perkins was drafted by the Memphis Grizzles with the No. 27 pick before being immediately traded to the Boston Celtics. The six-foot-10, 270-pound center would win an NBA Championship with the Celtics for the 2008 season.

    Perkins played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Cleveland Cavaliers and New Orleans Pelicans during his 16-years in the league. He finished his NBA career with 4,214 points, 4,532 rebounds and 903 blocks.

    Perkins knowledge of the game makes him an asset to ESPN, as he provides intelligent insight on the NBA for television viewers.
