The Houston Texans dominated the New England Patriots 41-21 in their Week 6 matchup, but it was the postgame interaction between Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud and Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye that truly stood out.

Maye was making his NFL debut and performed admirably given the circumstances and the caliber of the team he was facing. Meanwhile, Stroud, now in his second year after winning Rookie of the Year in 2023, has emerged as a leader and guided the Texans to the postseason in his first year.

Just weeks earlier, Stroud attempted to share some advice with Chicago Bears rookie Caleb Williams , but Williams appeared standoffish, likely due to their similar ages and collegiate rivalry. In contrast, Maye listened intently and seemed to genuinely appreciate the guidance from one of the game's best.

"Much respect to you, bro. Really solid. Learn from your mistakes. Keep going." Stroud said to Maye.

The interaction in less than 24 hours of being posted onto social media surpassed well over 800,000 views and was posted on several platforms.

While the Houston Texans left Gillette Stadium with a victory, Drake Maye showcased significant promise, proving to New England and the NFL that he is ready to start at quarterback in this league.

Maye completed 20 of his 33 passing attempts for 243 yards, throwing three touchdowns and two interceptions. He also added five rushes for 38 yards.

Though he experienced some growing pains, evident in a few errant throws, Maye stood tall against one of the league's best defenses. He faced pressure from formidable pass rushers and still managed to make several key throws throughout the game.

Excitement is brewing in New England, reminiscent of the optimism that surrounded Houston when Stroud burst onto the scene. Now, the focus will be on developing the rookie and positioning him for future success.
