Victor Wembanyama established himself amongst the best players in the NBA in his rookie season. The San Antonio Spurs center was not only named the Rookie of the Year but also in the NBA All-Defensive First Team.

In his rookie season, Wembanyama averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 3.6 blocks in 71 games. He led the league in blocks.

Wembanyama also became the first rookie in NBA history to average 3.5 assists and 3.5 blocks per game. He is the only player other than Hakeem Olajuwon to have those numbers since 1994.

No wonder Wembanyama, who is still just 20 years of age, is being considered a generational talent and someone who will eventually get the San Antonio Spurs back into title contention.

Another center who has been amongst the best in the NBA for quite a while is Miami Heat's Bam Adebayo.

Often, it has felt like Adebayo has not gotten the credit that he deserves. Perhaps he does not get as much of the spotlight because he plays with Jimmy Butler.

One could argue though that the transition has started for Adebayo to be the new face of the Heat, after he was handed a massive extension over the summer while Butler's future in Miami remains uncertain.

Wembanyama is someone who recognises the greatness of Adebayo. In a clip posted by Brady Hawk , Wemby said about the Heat center: "He’s been up there in the best players for a while."

The Heat met the Spurs in preseason recently and came out on top with a 120-117 win. Adebayo had a solid outing, putting up 20 points in 24 minutes. Tyler Herro and Jaime Jaquez Jr looked sharp on the night as well.

The win is part of a three-game winning streak for the Heat in preseason and it is starting to feel like many fans were too quick to write them off.
