Amari Cooper Addresses Whether He'll Make Bills Debut in Week 7 vs. Titans

On Tuesday, the Buffalo Bills struck a trade to address one of their primary areas of need, acquiring a clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver in Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns.

While there's no shortage of excitement surrounding Cooper's debut with the Bills, getting the wide receiver entirely up to speed on a short week would be a tall task. Cooper's status for the team's Week 7 game against the Tennessee Titans is up in the air, but there's at least a chance he'll suit up.

Although head coach Sean McDermott said he has not decided whether the five-time Pro Bowler will suit up, Cooper discussed the possibility of making his Bills debut on Sunday.

Cooper stated that he doesn't have an expectation yet that he can "chalk up to being realistic" until going through the week, as ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg revealed.

"I would still have to kind of go through the week, get a routine, still learning the playbook and everything. I just got here, you know what I mean?" Cooper said.

"So, I don't really have an expectation right now that I can chalk up to being realistic until I go through the week. Obviously, if I had to answer the question, the expectation would just be to take it to take full advantage of my opportunities. That's it. I don't know what opportunities I would be blessed with for Sunday, but whatever it is, just take full advantage of it."

With Cooper slated to step in as the expected top target for quarterback Josh Allen sooner than later, his arrival could also help the team's two current top wideouts, Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman. Shakir returned from injury in Week 6 but appeared somewhat limited. Even after missing one game, Shakir still leads the Bills in receiving with 249 yards and two touchdowns.

Coleman, Buffalo's second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, has put together a decent start to his rookie campaign. He's caught 12 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns through six games.

With Cooper now in the mix for the Bills, whether in Week 7 or 8, his arrival should allow more room for Shakir and Coleman to work, benefitting the entire offense in the process.
