ESPN 'College GameDay' Analyst Predicts College Football Upset for Top-10 Team

There are no shortage of marquee college football games for Week 8 with plenty of teams on upset alert. Several members of the ESPN "College GameDay" crew offered their picks for the major matchups on the Oct. 17 edition of the weekly podcast.

The No. 1 Texas Longhorns are a 4.5-point favorite versus the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs, per DraftKings. Yet, few people are picking the Dawgs which means Georgia head coach Kirby Smart is sure to try to take advantage of the rare opportunity his team has in being an underdog.

The other marquee matchup in Week 8 happens in the SEC as the No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers host the No. 7 Alabama Crimson Tide. Tennessee is a 3-point home dog versus Bama, and ESPN's Pete Thamel is putting Kalen DeBoer's squad on upset alert.

"The Kalen DeBoer era I feel like is going to be fine," Thamel explained. "I just feel like we've been reminded it's going to look and feel different. Right now, with the way college football has changed and the bottom of these leagues moving up because of the [transfer] portal.

"It's going to be a different kind of fight for the Tide. All that said, I'm taking Tennessee."

If the college football insider is right, there could be cigars in the future for Vols players after this rivalry matchup.
