Texas Coach Steve Sarkisian's Blunt Response on Arch Manning's Role Against Georgia

After the team's Week 7 domination of the No. 18 Oklahoma Sooners in the 120th Red River Rivalry, quarterback Quinn Ewers' play was the biggest "question" surrounding the Longhorns.

The third-year starter, who was at one point the Heisman favorite, looked extremely rusty after missing the last 2.5 games for the Longhorns due to an oblique injury.

His absence allowed the college football world to get a taste of what the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning, Arch, could do. The former five-star showed off his monster arm and blazing speed en route to leading Texas to wins in each of the three games he appeared in.

However, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian made it abundantly clear that when Ewers was ready to return, it would be his team. The head coach is sticking with this sentiment ahead of the Longhorns' Week 8 game against No. 5 Georgia, and it was clear that he wasn't fond of a question on Thursday regarding what it would take to make a change in the middle of the game.

"I'm not even going to answer that," Sarkisian said per Anward Richardson of Orangebloods. "I don't know what the question is. Next question."

Ewers opened the Red River Rivalry like he had the previous year by throwing an interception on the first drive. He also had a couple of overthrows that led to missed opportunities for touchdowns, but he still finished the game, having completed 20-of-29 passes for 199 yards and a score.

Clearly, Sarkisian is still extremely confident in Ewers, and won't be fueling any quarterback controversy fires that fans and media members alike have been looking to get going all year. If Ewers can perform like he did against No. 10 Michigan earlier in the season, the Longhorns could be one of the toughest outs in the sport.

Something that may already be considering ESPN has now pushed the line from Texas being favored by 3.5 to now being favored by five. ESPN also gives the Longhorns a 76.2% chance of beating Georgia.

If Ewers can shake off that rust and help Texas win, the Longhorns will have one of the best resumes in all of college football.
