Fox Sports broadcaster Troy Aikman didn't hold back on what he thought of the Dallas Cowboys wide receivers through the first six weeks of the season.

The Cowboys are entering their bye week with a 3-3 record after a discouraging 47-9 loss to the Detroit Lions at home on Sunday. The offense doesn't seem to be clicking after Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb signed massive contract extensions before the start of the regular season.

During a recent appearance on 96.7 The Ticket, Aikman said the Cowboys receivers have been running terrible routs this season. The former Dallas quarterback called out Lamb specifically.

"I think the routes are terrible," Aikman said via a transcription from The Athletic's Jon Machota. "I think they run terrible routes. And I've thought that beyond this year. I think CeeDee (Lamb) has got to improve in his route running."

"As a quarterback, if you're not certain where guys are going to be consistently, it's hard to play the position," Aikman added.

"That's what I see. I see guys lazy coming off the line of scrimmage. Sometimes they run, usually if they do, it's because they're anticipating they're going to get the football on that play, but if they're not, they don't. And it all ties together. I'm not impressed with that part of it."

Aikman went on to praise the Baltimore Ravens, Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers receiving corps for helping out their quarterbacks via route running.

Lamb leads the Cowboys receivers with 32 receptions for 467 yards and two touchdowns this season. Prescott is 142-of-224 passing for 1,602 yards, eight touchdowns and six interceptions.

On Tuesday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was grilled by the hosts of 105.3 the Fan for how the team has performed through the first six games of the season. The skepticism around the team won't change until Dallas starts winning more games.
