The Week 8 slate of the 2024 college football season offers exciting matchups like the No. 1 Texas Longhorns vs. the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs and No. 7 Alabama Crimson Tide vs. the No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers. However, there is another game that fans may want to tune into on Saturday.

The No. 6 Miami Hurricanes are taking on the Louisville Cardinals in an ACC showdown during the weekend. Miami is favored by five points in the matchup by ESPN BET , but Louisville won last season's game 38-31 in Coral Gables.

Head coach Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes come into Week 8 at 6-0, while the Cardinals are 4-2 under second-year head coach Jeff Brohm. Brohm joined Louisville last season after a stint with the Purdue Boilermakers in a similar role from 2017-22.

Miami survived a scare against the California Golden Bears 39-38 in its previous game, while Louisville beat the Virginia Cavaliers 24-20 thanks to a go-ahead touchdown pass from quarterback Tyler Shough with 1:55 left in its last game.

On a recent episode of " Always College Football ," Greg McElroy discussed some of the top games taking place this weekend. He predicted the Miami-Louisville game would have a "photo finish" despite Miami being the better team.

“I’m taking Miami, but I expect it to be a photo finish," McElroy said. "I think Brohm will have a really nice recipe, but I expect a healthier and more complete Miami performance when they take the field coming off the bye week this year.”

The Hurricanes and Cardinals meet for the 16th time in series history in Week 8, with Miami leading the all-time series 11-4-1. Kickoff is at noon ET on ABC and ESPN+.
