Week 8 of the college football season has begun, and some teams have seen their hopes extinguished while others have made gains. One team that has almost seen its season come to an end is the LSU Tigers.

The Tigers started the season with a 27-20 upset loss to the USC Trojans, who scored the winning touchdown in the final seconds. That left LSU with little room for error.

On the "Paul Finebaum Show," the SEC Network analyst shared that LSU's season nearly ended twice: once against the South Carolina Gamecocks and again versus the Ole Miss Rebels.

"LSU has been a survivor this year," Finebaum said. "Two different times, they were down to the brink. They beat South Carolina toward the end of that game, and the same for Ole Miss. Winning matters, no matter how you do it."

LSU trailed 17-0 against the Gamecocks on the road; however, the Tigers rallied and scored the winning touchdown with 1:12 left for a 36-33 victory.

Against Ole Miss, the Tigers fell behind 10-0 and never held the lead until the game's final play. They fought back and scored the game-tying touchdown on a 23-yard, fourth-down pass from Garrett Nussmeier to Aaron Anderson with 27 seconds left.

In overtime, the Tigers managed to hold Ole Miss to a field goal. On the first play of LSU's possession, Nussmeier hit Kyren Lacy on a 25-yard game-winning touchdown pass, securing a 29-26 victory.

The Tigers aim to keep surviving as they face the Arkansas Razorbacks on the road Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
