The Alabama Crimson Tide's performance this season has been inconsistent. They have shown potential as a national title contender in games against the Wisconsin Badgers and the Georgia Bulldogs. However, they have also struggled against the Vanderbilt Commodores and the South Carolina Gamecocks, appearing more like a middle-of-the-pack SEC team.

Alabama's situation isn't getting any easier as the Crimson Tide head to Knoxville to face the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday. Tennessee's offense has struggled in the last two games, averaging just 18.5 points per game after averaging 54 points the previous four games.

On the "Paul Finebaum Show," a caller expressed that despite Alabama's struggles, they still believe the team is a top 10 contender in the country. Finebaum bluntly replied, "For now."

ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) maintains a positive outlook on the Crimson Tide. Despite the loss to Vanderbilt, the FPI ranks Alabama as the No. 3 team in the country. It projects that Alabama will finish the season with a record of 10-2 and gives the Tide a 68.7% chance of making the College Football Playoff.

The Crimson Tide have the second-best chance to win the SEC at 14.1% and the third-best odds of winning the national championship at 9.2%.

The Crimson Tide take on the Volunteers on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
