Steelers Come Full Circle in WR Trade Talks

The New York Jets didn't surprise anyone this week with the trade for Las Vegas Raiders wideout Davante Adams. Many saw it coming after Adams made public his desire to leave Glitter Gulch, and especially after New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers publicly criticized and blamed teammate Mike Williams for the loss to the Bills on Monday Night Football.

Williams is the odd man out here, the latest unfortunate victim of Rodgers' bullying his way to general manager status in New York after former coach Robert Saleh was recently released from his duties there.

For teams still looking for wideout help - like the Pittsburgh Steelers - this situation creates a new opportunity.

Per The Athletic, three teams have emerged as suitors for Williams - the Los Angeles Chargers, New Orleans Saints and the Steelers have all already inquired about obtaining the eight-year veteran receiver.

While the Chargers are the most obvious landing spot as Williams' former home for seven seasons, the Steelers might be the most appealing due to the overall roster, aside from the quarterback situation.

The Saints are dealing with injuries at wideout with Chris Olave dealing with a concussion and Rashid Shaheed possibly missing the rest of the season with a knee injury. Williams was absent from practice on both Wednesday and Thursday this week for what was listed as "non-injury/personal" indicating that a trade is imminent.
