DeAndre Hopkins Responds Strongly to Trade Rumors

The Tennessee Titans sit at 1-4 under first-year head coach Brian Callahan and have no relief in sight before the NFL's Nov. 5 trade deadline.

With consecutive road games against the Buffalo Bills (4-2) and Detroit Lions (4-1) in Weeks 7 and 8, a 1-6 start is a real possibility. Meaning, DeAndre Hopkins' name continues to swirl in trade speculation should the Titans shift into "sell" mode over the next couple of weeks.

Not much has gone right for the Tennessee's 31st-ranked offense this season, leaving the 32-year-old All-Pro receiver with 14 catches, 175 yards and one touchdown through five games (two starts).

When asked on Thursday about his name circulating the NFL rumor mill, Hopkins appeared to be unaware of the development following recent blockbuster deals involving Davante Adams and Amari Cooper.

A report from ESPN on Wednesday also suggested the Titans aren't "eager to deal him right now" either.

"I don't really have social media," Hopkins told reporters at his locker. "My kids have that stuff. I play football, so I don't really know too much (about) what's going on. My name's been out there? What are they saying?"

Hopkins set the record straight on a follow-up question about whether he'd have any interest in a trade to another team,

"I love my life," Hopkins said bluntly. "I love where I am. God put me where I need to be, and He always will. I play football."

The five-time Pro Bowler is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season, as he plays out the final campaign of a two-year, $26 million contract signed in July 2023.

A trade of Hopkins before the deadline would save Tennessee $11.8 million on its salary cap in 2024 while spreading a $12.3 million dead cap hit over this year ($6.4 million) and next ($5.9 million), according to Spotrac.

As for Sunday, the Titans travel to Buffalo as 8.5-point road underdogs, according to ESPN BET.
