College GameDay Makes Interesting Nick Saban Announcement Before Texas-Georgia

ESPN's "College GameDay" is preparing to take full advantage of the hype around the top five SEC matchup between the No. 1 Texas Longhorns (6-0) and the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs (5-1) in Austin, Texas.

The college football show will be on site at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday morning. Interestingly enough, the city will also be hosting the 2024 F1 Austin Grand Prix.

According to a report from Adweek's Jason Notte , ESPN has revealed plans for rookie host Nick Saban to "take laps" in Mercedes' F1 vehicle during the show's broadcast. The former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach co-owns the Dream Motor Group, which owns multiple Mercedes dealerships across the country.

Additionally, McLaren driver Oscar Piastri will "toss around" a football with Texas players during the show which is slated for 9 a.m. to noon ET.

This won't be the first time ESPN has incorporated a vehicle into a broadcast. Host Kirk Herbstreit spoke live on air while being transported to the airport in a convertible last week.

"College GameDay" has grown in popularity this season. According to ESPN's numbers, the long-time show is on pace for its best year since it began in 1987.

The "College GameDay" crew of Saban, Herbstreit, Rece Davis, Pat McAfee and Desmond Howard will be joined by celebrity guest picker and the world's No. 1 golfer, Scottie Scheffler , to make predictions for the Week 8 slate.

Georgia-Texas will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC). The Longhorns are listed as 4.5-point favorites, per ESPN Bet.
