The Oregon Ducks have been rolling along with very few bumps in the road this year, but the same can't be said right now for The Duck mascot.

On Friday night ahead of Oregon's road game against the Purdue Boilermakers, The Duck suffered the worst of all mascot malfunctions, with his head falling off after a collision with a player on the field.

The mishap happened before the game started when the team was running onto the field. The Duck gets clipped from behind by defensive back Sione Laulea, who wasn't looking where he was running.

The Duck fell to the ground, and his head popped off. We can see a human's head briefly before he scrambles to get the mascot's head back on.

For a mascot, this is one of the worst things that can happen, undoubtedly. Fortunately, the mascot's head was off for less than two seconds when all was said and done.

If this is an omen of how the night is going to play out for Oregon, it isn't great. Earlier this week, Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt forecasted some trouble for the Ducks, due to the fact that they had to travel across the country to West Lafayette on a short week, following their emotional win against the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Oregon was able to score easily on their first drive of the game, but we will see how this continues to play out.
