Nick Saban Calls Out Desmond Howard With Sharp 6-Word Question

On Saturday morning, ESPN's "College GameDay" set up shop in Austin, Texas for a highly-anticipated college football matchup between the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs and No. 1 Texas Longhorns.

As they do each week, the "College GameDay" crew made their picks for Saturday's exciting slate of college football matchups.

The No. 24 Michigan Wolverines will kickoff against the No. 22 Illinois Fighting Illini at 3:30 p.m. EST on Saturday afternoon. When the crew got to this matchup, Desmond Howard unsurprisingly picked his beloved Wolverines to win the game.

"I'm going with Michigan," Howard said.

"Have you ever picked against Michigan?" Nick Saban asked in reply.

Howard is a Michigan football icon, winning the coveted Heisman Trophy with the Wolverines in 1991. Howard's sons are currently freshmen at the University of Michigan.

With his deep connections to the Michigan program, it's no surprise that Howard is always hopeful for his former team.

Michigan is 4-2 to start the 2024 college football season after running the table en route to a College Football Playoff National Championship in 2023. In addition to the Wolverines' early-season blowout loss to Texas, Sherrone Moore's squad also fell to the unranked Washington Huskies on Oct. 5.

Michigan elected to bench quarterback Alex Orji in favor of Jack Tuttle during the second quarter of its loss to Washington. Tuttle did enough to earn his first start of the year against Illinois.

Michigan is favored by 4.5 points over the home-team Illini at Memorial Stadium this afternoon.
