Nick Saban's Statement on Amari Cooper is Turning Heads

The Buffalo Bills traded for Amari Cooper this week, adding a true No. 1 wide receiver for quarterback Josh Allen.

Cooper is a decorated veteran with an impressive resume, boasting four 1,000-yard seasons and four Pro Bowl selections, including a nod last year with the Cleveland Browns.

What sets Cooper apart from many elite receivers is his demeanor. Unlike some of his peers, he’s reserved, rarely drawing attention with his words or off-field actions. His quiet nature, though, can sometimes lead to misunderstandings, as his former college coach, Nick Saban, pointed out on "The Pat McAfee Show."

“I think Amari Cooper is a great player and I think he’ll make a huge impact with the Bills, who have a good offensive team, good quarterback and all that,” Saban said on Friday . “But I think Amari Cooper sometimes is a little bit misunderstood because he’s such a quiet guy. I mean he went through three or four years at Alabama, however long he was there, and I don’t know if we ever had a conversation."

Many found that interesting, considering Cooper spent three seasons at Alabama under Nick Saban, amassing 3,463 yards receiving and 31 touchdowns.

"He’s absolutely one of the best players in the game, but that is hilarious that they may not have any single conversation this time at Alabama," one fan said.

Another added: "That says a lot more about Saban than it does Amari."

After his time at Alabama, Cooper went on to be selected by the Raiders with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. He's been traded three times in his career.

Cooper is expected to debut for the Bills on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
