Texas Longhorn fans proved that sometimes throwing a temper tantrum works.

After officials called defensive pass interference on Texas defensive back Jahdae Barron after he intercepted Georgia quarterback Carson Beck on a third-and-10 from the UGA 31-yard line, UT fans were enraged.

Video replay showed the DPI call was questionable at best as Georgia receiver Arian Smith pushed off Barron before he plucked the ball out of the air, and the Texas student section responded by littering the field with bottles and other trash in protest of the controversial call.

As the grounds crew worked to clear the field, officials convened and overturned their initial ruling, giving Texas the ball at the 9-yard line. While UT fans were thrilled with the turn of events, college football analyst David Pollack didn’t feel the same and he called out the Longhorns fans for their childish actions.

“Wow I have never seen that in my life,” Pollack tweeted . “The fans threw bottles on the field and the refs literally changed their call. That is such horse crap man. That’s one of the worst ways of handling a situation I have seen. Can’t believe they ain’t talking about that in the booth.”

Typically, such ornery behavior from a fanbase leads to a penalty against the home team. Fortunately for Texas, the opposite happened.

The Longhorns capitalized on the penalty reversal as Quinn Ewers hit running back Jaydon Blue for a 17-yard touchdown pass to pull the Longhorns to within 23-15.

Ewers’ second touchdown pass of the game capped a run of 14 unanswered points from Texas after getting shutout 23-0 in the first half.

Ewers was benched in the second quarter in favor of Arch Manning but started the second half. After starting 6-of-12 for 17 yards, the junior QB was 7-of-10 for 90 yards and two touchdowns in the second half at time of publication.
