Kirby Smart Facing Backlash for Comments After Georgia-Texas Upset

The Georgia Bulldogs pulled off a dominant 30-15 win versus the Texas Longhorns, but some fans are not buying Kirby Smart's reaction to the upset. Smart played the "nobody believed in us" card after the Bulldogs' win.

"Nobody believed," Smart told ESPN during an Oct. 20 postgame interview. "Nobody gave us a chance. Your whole network doubted us. Nobody believed us."

To Smart's point, the Dawgs were a 4.5-point underdog to the Longhorns, per Action Network . This is a rare occurrence for Georgia under Smart, as the Bulldogs have gotten used to being the favorites. Georgia has become one of the dominant teams in college football.

"Georgia pulling a 'nobody believed in us' is… something," Saturday Down South's Adam Spencer noted.

"'Nobody believed in us.' – Kirby Smart, who is 48-3 the past three-and-a-half seasons, with two national championships," The Athletic's Pete Sampson posted.

"Great win, but what a baby," One fan said.

While some disagreed with Smart's postgame remarks, the Bulldogs coach also found some support with a few fans.

"Love me some salty Kirby," Another fan remarked.

"That’s a coach players will fight for right there!" one person added.

Smart may not be pleased to hear this, but Georgia is likely to be a massive favorite in the team's next matchup against the Florida Gators on Nov. 2. The Bulldogs will have a bye week to rest up from the team's win over Texas.
