Utah Set to Make 'Tough Decisions' in Wake of TCU Loss

The Utah Utes have now suffered their third straight loss, this time to the TCU Horned Frogs at home in what was supposed to be the team's bounce-back game following the embarrassing defeat to the Sun Devils in week five.

Now at 4-3 on the campaign, with no offensive improvement shown on the field, Kyle Whittingham hinted at some "tough decisions" for the program within the next 48 hours in his post-game press conference.

"We've got to look at everything ... and make some tough decisions," Whittingham said .

"Everything is up in the air, and we will evaluate," he continued .

If there were to be a high-profile change within the Utah coaching staff, it would most likely be offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig. Ludwig has been under fire for his underwhelming playcalling and lack of offensive output, and fans have begun a movement on X for #FireLudwig in the wake of a loss in which the defense held TCU to only 13 points, but the offense only managed to put up seven while not having a single red zone snap.

Nonetheless, an interesting week is in the cards for Utah football. An on-field product that seems to be in complete disarray, at least on the offensive side, and a fanbase that has become demoralized after seeing no improvements in what has been a completely uncharacteristic stretch for a Kyle Whittingham-led Utah team.

Changes are needed, and while the team has no realistic chance of making the Big 12 title game after this loss, the only saving grace for this season is a win against BYU in three weeks time. A new offensive coordinator may be at the helm of Utah's offensive playcalling by that time, but it may be a necessary move for the Utes to salvage any remaining good grace this season.

Oklahoma fan here living in SLC. I feel for the Utes, OU is sucking it up with young qb's and massive injuries just like the Utes.

People need to show grace towards our true freshman quarterback. He’s doing great in a tough situation. Given fact we are losing more than we are winning. Everyone cannot be winners. I say give our team support now and reap the rewards of a better year next year and coming years Coach- let Cam Rising move on with his adult life
