NFL fans couldn't help but be worried about San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk after his injury during Sunday's showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Aiyuk sustained the injury late in the second quarter following a Brock Purdy pass. As the star wide receiver caught the ball, two Chiefs defenders came crashing toward him in a bid to stop the play.

Unfortunately for the 49ers, Chiefs safety Chamarri Conner delivered a low hit to Aiyuk's right knee, causing it to bend awkwardly. It definitely looked like a serious injury, with the veteran wideout needing to be carted off the field as a result.

A slow-mo video of the hit on Aiyuk has since emerged, which only further raises concerns about the nature and extent of his injury.

Sure enough, fans and experts alike fear it could be an ACL injury, an issue that could take months to heal depending on its severity.

"Brandon Aiyuk - Concern for significant Right knee injury ACL/MCL+," Doctor of Physical Therapy Jeff Mueller wrote on X.

" Significant valgus (knee caving inward) here. This puts the ACL and MCL (amongst others) at risk. Hoping for the best," Certified Orthopedic Specialist Tom Christ added.

"Brandon Aiyuk R knee -- This is not what you want to see . ACL++ is of high concern Fingers crossed but this doesn’t look good," Pro Athlete Physical Therapy founder Edwin Porras added.

    A fan exclaimed, "I fear a season-ending ACL/MCL injury for Brandon Aiyuk."

"By video, 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk suffered a significant injury to his right knee with some likely ligament damage. Worry for MCL tear and potential bone bruise injury, unlikely to return today, IR potential, pending MRI to determine severity," another social media user shared.

"Damn. There goes Brandon Aiyuk’s ACL," a shocked NFL viewer said.

Brandon Aiyuk is expected to undergo several tests to determine the extent of his injury. Having said that, hopes are high that it's not as serious as it looked on video replays.
