Browns Address Nick Chubb's Future After Second Half Disappearance

Nick Chubb made his long-awaited return to the field on Sunday after more than a year away due to a devastating knee injury.

Chubb sustained the injury in Week 2 of last season against the Pittsburgh Steelers. After undergoing two surgeries and an intense rehabilitation process, he made his return in against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Chubb registered a team-high 11 carries for just 22 yards but did find the end zone at the end of the first half. However, fans were worried after Chubb received just one carry in the second half of the 21-14 loss.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said after the game that was part of the plan for Chubb as they eased him back into action.

“No setbacks. Just always trying to be smart with him," Stefanski said . "Want to make sure that we don’t put him in a bad spot. He was good. He came out of this thing good. So, he’ll be ready to roll."

Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett was ecstatic to see Chubb back on the field but acknowledged the "pitch count."

“I think he did well. It seemed like he was on a pitch count and wanted to take care of him. I think it’s a smart thing to do," Garrett said. "It’s a long season, I want to see him continue to grow and improve from here and get more confident and comfortable taking hits and bouncing off those hits and breaking tackles. But I think he did well."

The Browns dropped to 1-6 after the loss to the Bengals. Cleveland faces the Baltimore Ravens next week.
