The Cleveland Browns' struggles to begin the 2024 NFL season continued in Week 7, a 21-14 loss to the AFC North rival Cincinnati Bengals. In the process, the Browns also likely witnessed the end of starting quarterback Deshaun Watson's season.

Watson suffered what is believed to be an Achilles injury on a noncontact play. The 29-year-old quarterback's leg appeared to give out as he attempted to take off and run, but he immediately went down in obvious pain.

There has been no official word yet on the specific severity of Watson's injury, but the early reports point to a likely season-ending Achilles injury.

While the reactions poured in from various fans, players and analysts, Watson received a message posted on X by Colorado head coach Deion Sanders that drew plenty of attention.

The current coach and former NFL star sent good vibes Watson's way by saying he was praying for him "fervently."

Watson has struggled mightily to begin the season, and the Browns are off to a 1-6 start following Sunday's loss to the Bengals. While Watson was by far the most efficient he had been in any game this season before the injury, the Browns offense continued to struggle to find the end zone.

The injury occurred just before halftime, as the Bengals led 7-6. While Watson was 15-of-17 passing for 128 yards, his play in the six games games prior left fans calling for a quarterback change.

Over that stretch, Watson completed less than 57 percent of his passes in half of the games (three) while averaging 5.3 yards per. He threw five touchdowns with three interceptions and had been sacked 31 times over the first six games.

Watson was replaced in Sunday's game by Dorian Thompson-Robinson, as normal backup, Jameis Winston, was listed as the team's emergency quarterback. After Thompson-Robinson left with a finger injury, Winston saw action down the stretch and went 5-of-11 passing with 67 yards and one touchdown to cut the Browns' deficit to one score late in the fourth quarter.
