Jets QB Aaron Rodgers Assigns Blame With 4-Word Statement After Steelers Loss

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers took responsibility for his shaky play after the team fell flat in a 37-15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

The Jets took a 15-13 lead into halftime but fell flat in the second half, being outscored 24-0 en route to a blowout loss. Rodgers finished the game 24-of-39 passing for 276 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

The loss dropped the Jets to 2-5, coming just six days after another loss to the division-leading Buffalo Bills.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Rodgers said the team needs to turn around their play and said it starts with him.

“I gotta play better," Rodgers said in his postgame press conference .

Rodgers has been shaky this season after returning from a torn Achilles that cut short his 2023 campaign. He has completed 61.7% of his passes for 1,663 yards with 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Rodgers' 82.2 quarterback rating would be the lowest in his career as a starter.

The offensive struggles on Sunday weren't all on Rodgers. With the Jets trailing 16-15 midway through the third quarter, he found wide receiver Garrett Wilson down the sidelines but the pass bounced off his hands and into the arms of rookie cornerback Beanie Bishop Jr. for the second interception of the day.

Bishop returned the interception 41 yards, setting up the Steelers on the 1-yard line. They scored on the next play.

Rodgers and the Jets have a chance to snap their four-game losing streak next week against the 1-6 New England Patriots.
