Talent only gets you so far in the NFL. That much has been clear for decades.

Teams win games, individual players win awards.

For the New York Jets, they still haven't figured that part out. And it might cost them a 14th straight postseason-less year.

New York's struggles continues in their 37-15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday Night. In a game that saw the Jets lead 15-6 at one point against a quarterback who hasn't played in a game in close to a calendar year, the Jets collapsed in the second half to the tune of giving up 31 unaswered points.

    Yes, 31 unanswered points.

This was like something out of a Madden game that not even the once-great Aaron Rodgers could dig his team out of. Now at 2-5, the Jets season hangs in the balance going forward.

They have a defensive line with an All-Pro to his name, two linebackers with All-Pro credentials, and a secondary that (when health) is the best in football. On offense, a future Hall-of-Fame quarterback is mixed with an infusion of strong talent at wide receiver and at running back.

The Jets even spent money on Pro Bowl/All-Pro additions to their offensive line. They even fired their head coach after a 2-3 start to the season.

It hasn't mattered. The Jets have still lost, and have found new ways to lose their games to boot.

Whether it's not scoring an offensive touchdown in a home loss to the Denver Broncos, their quarterback turning the ball over three times in a loss in London, or a kicker that was one of the best in football last season inexplicably losing his head in a loss on Monday night, each defeat has had a unique wrinkle to it.

The same could be said for Sunday night in Pittsburgh.

    The reality remains the same.

You can put as much lipstick on a pig all you want, it doesn't hide what actually is going on. In the case of the Jets, the infusion of talent hasn't done anything to take away from the very real fact.

This is a bad football team.
