LeBron James Rips Browns Fans For Deshaun Watson Injury Reaction

We've known for a couple of weeks that the Cleveland Browns' miserable season was already over. But in a forgettable week in they traded star receiver Amari Cooper, now quarterback Deshaun Watson's year is also finished.

In Sunday's 21-14 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, Watson suffered a torn Achilles that will require surgery and cause him to miss the rest of the season. The Browns released a statement Monday morning indicating that Watson is expected to make a full recovery.

When Watson fell to the turf, home fans at Huntington Bank Field booed him. He certainly hasn't validated the organization giving him $230 million guaranteed and, in fact, the trade for Watson might be the worst in NFL history.

Watson hasn't been good on the field. Worse, at times his body language on the sideline has seemed aloof.

After the game, however, teammates Myles Garrett and Jameis Winston had bizarre backing of their fallen quarterback. Garrett called him a "model citizen," apparently temporarily forgetting the 23 women who have filed civil lawsuits against him for sexual assault.

But another former Cleveland athlete also is coming to his defense. LeBron James, raised in Akron and who led the Cavaliers to the NBA title in 2016, criticized fans were booing Watson's injury.

“Cleveland Fans! Y'all know how much we’ve been thru throughout the years both good, bad and indifferent,” the four-time NBA Most Valuable Player wrote on his social media . “With that being said booing anyone that’s down with an injury let alone your own player is LAME AF!!”

When James left the Cavs for the Miami Heat he immediately became Public Enemy No. 1, so he knows what it's like to be booed in Cleveland.

At 1-6 and with Watson sidelined (and with last season's savior Joe Flacco now playing in Indianapolis), Browns fans can stop their booing and start focusing on the 2025 NFL Draft.
