The NFL trade deadline is rapidly approaching, and teams around the league are currently tasked with truly evaluating their rosters and deciding if they have the right pieces to contend or if a move is to be made.

The two biggest moves of the season thus far both happened at the receiver position as the New York Jets traded for Las Vegas Raiders receiver and three-time All-Pro Davante Adams, while the Kansas City Chiefs made a move for five-time All-Pro DeAndre Hopkins.

While there aren't many All-Pro receivers just lying around that are on the market, there are still some highly talented and proven players who can provide a boost to a team in need. One player viewed as having the potential to help out a possible contender is New York Jets receiver Mike Williams.

Athlon Sports' Chris Licata dove into the 10 trades that need to happen before the deadline, and Williams being sent to Pittsburgh was among the moves mentioned.

"The Steelers are one of three teams reported to have called the New York Jets about Mike Williams, according to The Athletic ," Licata wrote . "If Kupp and his contract isn't in the cards, the 30-year-old veteran might be the next-best option."

Licata's trade pitch featured the Jets sending a 2025 sixth-round pick and Williams to the Steelers for a 2025 fifth-round pick in return. It's a move that gets New York some draft capital, gets Williams out of a situation where he isn't being utilized and, most importantly, gives the Steelers a 6-foot-4 weapon.

The Steelers have consistently been in the market for a receiver to pair with George Pickens but have yet to have a deal come to fruition. They nearly landed San Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk before the deal fell apart in the final moments, and they were also one of the teams interested in Adams.

While Williams isn't at the same level as those two, he has still shown how impactful he can be with two 1,000-yard receiving seasons to his name while also adding three seasons with five or more touchdown catches.

If the Steelers truly have a chance at contending, Russell Wilson will need more firepower than just Pickens and tight end Pat Freiermuth. Second-year receiver Calvin Austin III has shown some flashes, but he has yet to prove he is capable of being a major piece of an NFL offense.

The Steelers definitely seem like they will make a move for a receiver. Now, the only question revolves around which one.
