Chiefs' Andy Reid Scouts DeAndre Hopkins

The Kansas City Chiefs didn't sit on their hands for long when looking at the shape of their receiver room, which has been decimated by injuries.

The franchise got on the front foot and traded with the Tennessee Titans for veteran All-Pro receiver DeAndre Hopkins , giving Patrick Mahomes another veteran weapon with some juice left in the tank.

The Chiefs' offense has not clicked as they would have liked, and injuries have contributed to that. The addition of Hopkins should give Kansas City a nice sugar hit until reinforcements arrive.

And for head coach Andy Reid, he knows what to expect from Hopkins on the field.

“I think he's a good veteran player and seen just about everything over 12 years,” Reid said . “He's a good space player, so he's very good at understanding how to work in space, at the same time, he's a tough matchup because of his size, arm length, big body that knows how to kind of play that low post area very well.”

The Chiefs' offense hasn't been the juggernaut we have come to know through six weeks. On average, they score just 24.3 points a game (which ranks 13th), so there is ample room for improvement.

With Travis Kelce, Xavier Worthy, Mecole Hardman, Noah Gray, and Skyy Moore as the pass-catching options, the addition of Hopkins will require defenses to tailor their scheme to stop him.

So, while the weapons at Mahomes' disposal might not be the best he's had in his time with Kansas City, he has the ability to get the most out of them.

Reid was tight-lipped on whether Hopkins would suit up against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8, but if he does, we all know what to expect from the veteran.

If Mahomes has anything to do with it, DeAndre will be a crucial part of trying to remain undefeated.
