Kirk Herbstreit Doesn't Hesitate to Name Best Student Section in College Football

Kirk Herbstreit has traveled to countless college football stadiums throughout his decades-long career as a broadcast analyst for ESPN. As such, he knows a thing or two about the best environments in college football.

While plenty of student sections deliver electric atmospheres for their programs, Herbstreit believes one fanbase stands above the rest in the college football world.

On Sunday afternoon, ESPN's "College GameDay" announced the flagship college football program will travel to Happy Valley for Penn State's highly-anticipated matchup against the Big Ten-rival Ohio State Buckeyes.

Herbstreit identified Penn State's student section as the best in the nation in his reaction to this news.

"Always love coming to State College-BEST student section in college football!!!" Herbstreit wrote on X. "And truth be known..All the signs you see at CGD today…started years ago when we came for a WHITE OUT. Students brought 1000’s of signs one year behind us and it’s become a weekly staple ever since. But it started at Penn State! And when Ohio State comes to town it goes to another level! Gonna be ELECTRIC!!"

This vote of confidence means a lot coming from Herbstreit, who suited up as quarterback for Ohio State from 1989-92.

James Franklin and the No. 3 Nittany Lions are 7-0 to start the season, taking down the Wisconsin Badgers on the road in their most recent matchup. Ryan Day and the No. 4 Buckeyes are 6-1 with their only loss coming at the hands of the No. 1 Oregon Ducks.

Saturday's game will kickoff at noon ET in Penn State's Beaver Stadium.

This Top-5 matchup surely deserves a White Out night game, but the Penn State student section will have to deliver an electric atmosphere in the early afternoon instead.

Penn State's White Out game is scheduled for Nov. 2 against the Washington Huskies.

Section EJ was the place to be in early 70's at Beaver Stadium. The amount of booze smuggled inside 3' pvc pipes wrapped by a stadium blanket kept you fortified throughout. There was even a football game to add to the atmosphere!
