WATCH: D'Andre Swift races for second-longest career TD against Commanders

On a day when the Chicago Bears couldn't muster much of anything on offense, D'Andre Swift got his team back in the day in swift fashion.

The veteran running back busted off his longest run in nearly three years — and second-longest of his career — to bring the Bears within five points of the Washington Commanders late in the third quarter of Sunday's game.

Not only was Swift's 56-yard touchdown his longest run since Nov. 21, 2021, when he broke a 57-yarder against the Cleveland Browns, but it also marked his fourth game in a row with a touchdown.

Before his run, the Bears had just 116 total yards against Washington in nearly three full quarters of offense, further emphasizing both the team's struggles and also how important his run was.

Many people were critical of the three-year, $24 million deal Chicago gave Swift in the offseason and his slow start to the campaign didn't quiet that criticism. However, in the past four games, he's gotten going and has been a valuable contributor for the Bears offensively.

Including his performance Sunday and the team's three prior games, Swift has run for over 70 yards and a score in each game and has amassed over 500 all-purpose yards in that span.

His big-time run against the Commanders is why the Bears keep feeding him and his recent performance shows he can still make a serious impact.
