Upon arriving in Oklahoma City, Victor Oladipo witnessed absolute greatness from Russell Westbrook's magical 2016-17 campaign.

Singlehandedly carrying the Thunder on his back following the controversial move made by Kevin Durant to join the Golden State Warriors, Russ delivered an unprecedented individual season that has been etched in basketball's record books. For tallying a league-leading 31.6 points to go with 10.7 boards and 10.4 assists, he became the first player since Oscar Robertson to register a triple-double average in a single season — already enough to secure the MVP honors.

Westbrook was simply unstoppable in those 81 games he played for the Thunder. From scoring the basketball to racking up assists and snatching board after board, he emerged as an all-around machine on a mission to will the Thunder even without KD.

    A memorable poster dunk

As his backcourt mate, Oladipo couldn't remember enough the countless jaw-dropping highlights Russ displayed that year from the dunks, clutch shots, and other numerous plays. But despite this, he still won't ever forget a particular moment that made him feel unreal about the OKC legend.

In his past appearance on The OGs Show, Vic recounted Brodie's memorable poster slam against Clint Capela during the clutch time of their regular season marquee showdown against the Houston Rockets.

"This is the craziest story: we are playing Houston in OKC one night, and we both arrived early for the game. [Russell Westbrook] got the heat on his feet, and we just chilling. Suddenly, he turned on me and told Imma to dunk on somebody left-handed tonight. I looked at him and said, 'You ain't gonna do sh**,' and he's like, 'Alight.'

"In the very last play of the game. It's like an out-of-bounds play for us to go four or five [points] to win. He runs and cuts and dunks on [Clint] Capela left-handed. Boom! And he looked at me and said, 'I told you! I told you!'. I couldn't believe it."

I am grateful to play with one of the best

As it is, that monstrous slam dunk against Capela was simply just a single element of Russ's historic season. He even had more if we'll take a rewind in that 2016-17 season.

But more than being treated to a spectacular basketball show on a nightly basis, Oladipo is beyond thankful for the opportunity to share the court with Westbrook, even just for a single season. It gave him a blueprint to eventually catapult towards stardom for the next couple of years.

"I think OKC was a great blessing because I learned from Russ," he said. "I sit next to Russ. Wisdom is understanding. You don't just learn from somebody telling you; you learn from watching and observing. I got a chance to sit next to him. So being in that environment and watching that [is a blessing]."
