Penn State's Drew Allar Predicted to Replace Underwhelming $160 Million NFL QB

Penn State Nittany Lions quarterback Drew Allar has the team in Big Ten contention. Allar also has the attention of pro teams ahead of the 2025 NFL draft.

The Penn State quarterback has a wide range of projections when evaluating his NFL draft stock. Allar has thrown for 1,640 yards , 12 touchdowns and 4 interceptions while completing an impressive 71.3% of his passes through his first seven games in 2024. The quarterback has also added 129 rushing yards and 3 TDs on the ground.

Not every NFL mock draft has Allar being selected in the first round. Athlon Sports' Luke Easterling is a bit more bullish on Allar as an NFL prospect, projecting the quarterback will be a top-10 pick.

Eaterling has Allar going to the New York Giants with the No. 9 pick in his latest mock draft.

"If there's one quarterback prospect who could make a big leap up the board between now and draft weekend, my money's on Allar, who has shown marked improvement so far this season," Easterling wrote on Oct. 22.

"The Giants obviously need to move on from Daniel Jones , and though there's some boom-or-bust to this pick, New York can't afford to play it safe and run it back with Jones again next year."

This selection would likely end Daniel Jones' time as the Giants QB1. Jones' four-year, $160 million contract is slated to run through the 2026 season.

The Giants do have an out in Jones' deal in 2025 but would take a $22.2 million dead cap hit by releasing the quarterback, per Spotrac.
