North Iowa Fair concludes on Sunday
“A World of Wows” was the theme for the 2024 edition of the fair, held annually in Mason City at the North Iowa Events Center and Fairgrounds. Intense night of racing at Davenport Speedway
The final night of racing at Davenport Speedway before the Mississippi Valley Fair is usually an intense one, such was the case again this season. For the first time this year, the Outhouse and Storage to Go Container Rentals IMCA Late Model class had a back-to-back feature winner. Evan Miller started in the fourth row and would not see the lead until lap twenty-two of the main. Once in front, Miller pulled away and ended with a 1.323 second advantage over second place Jesse Bodin.

Council approves local housing development’s shift to townhomes
Plans for a pair of proposed apartment buildings may be changing. Andy Anderson, a representative of Briar Grove Apartments and Echo Development, presented a request Monday night to the Decorah City Council, regarding the construction of four apartment buildings in the Decorah business park, located near Toppling Goliath on Sweet Parkway Drive. Two of the residential buildings have already been built, and Anderson said the developers want to change plans for the remaining two buildings — making them townhouses rather than apartments.
