The final night of racing at Davenport Speedway before the Mississippi Valley Fair is usually an intense one, such was the case again this season. For the first time this year, the Outhouse and Storage to Go Container Rentals IMCA Late Model class had a back-to-back feature winner. Evan Miller started in the fourth row and would not see the lead until lap twenty-two of the main. Once in front, Miller pulled away and ended with a 1.323 second advantage over second place Jesse Bodin.

On Friday, the Des Moines Airbase hosted a special “welcome home” ceremony for a group of National Guard soldiers returning from a year-long deployment in the Middle East. The federal government activated the 831st Engineer Vertical Construction Company (EVCC) to support U.S. Central Command in a territory encompassing 27 countries. Teen seriously injured in Dunkerton rollover; crash detection feature alerts authorities
DUNKERTON, Iowa — A teen is seriously hurt after a rollover crash near Dunkerton Saturday. The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office says the teen's cell phone alerted authorities to the crash thanks to a crash detection feature around 2:23pm Saturday in the 6000 block of North Pilot Grove Road. When first responders arrived, they found the 17-year-old in the roadway. He was rushed to UnityPoint Allen Hospital in Waterloo before transferred to University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center in Iowa City.
