Beazer Homes names new CMO
One of Atlanta's biggest homebuilders has a new marketing lead.<\p> Beazer Homes USA Inc. (NYSE: BZH) appointed Elicia Azali as chief marketing officer, the company announced May 21. CMO is a new position at Beazer, a spokesperson told Atlanta Business Chronicle.<\p>
Architecture firm expands to Atlanta
An architecture firm with offices in Georgia and Florida is expanding to metro Atlanta.<\p> SRJ Architects Inc., headquartered in Albany, opened an Atlanta office "to better serve existing clients in the metro area" and "engage with new clients seeking forward-thinking architectural solutions," according to a news release. The office is in Cobb County near Cumberland Mall, per SRJ Architects' website.<\p>
Downtown tower lands leasing team; landlord sees demand
The Downtown building that has served as the longtime regional headquarters for accounting giant Ernst & Young has a new leasing team. <\p> Transwestern Real Estate Services, one of Atlanta's largest commercial real estate brokerages with $505 million gross dollar volume produced by its local office, landed the assignment at 55 Allen Plaza.<\p>
Investors purchase $1B worth of Atlanta houses
Real estate investors took a billion-dollar bite out of Atlanta's housing market to start the year.<\p> In the first three months of 2024, the total value of Atlanta-area residential property purchased by real estate investors surpassed $1 billion, according to a recent report from national real estate company Redfin Corp. (Nasdaq: RDFN).<\p>
Disconnect over startup valuations limited deals in 2023
A disconnect over valuations between companies and investors led to a decrease in funding activity last year, according to a new report by Morris, Manning and Martin. <\p> The report found that last year's overall deal volume remained low, continuing a trend from the second half of 2022.<\p>
New South Downtown construction begins
On Sunday, dozens of cans of spray paint were strewn on the sidewalk along an aging retail strip on Peachtree Street, just south of the Five Points MARTA station.<\p> That day, as hundreds of people walked and biked by during the Atlanta Streets Alive festival, artists worked to paint colorful murals on the roll-down doors of the stores, some that are vacant. <\p>
BeltLine closes trail for construction
Atlanta BeltLine Inc. is starting to fill in the rest of the unpaved portions of the Southside Trail.<\p> Beginning Monday, May 20, a segment of the Southside Trail between Pryor Road and Boulevard will remain closed to the public for a year and a half. The final piece of the trail to enter construction runs from Pittsburgh Yards to Pryor Road, which will stay open through the end of the 2024 school year and close on May 27.<\p>

Major transit station reopens after renovations
Atlanta's airport is once again accessible by a train ride on the Red and Gold lines.<\p> Following a six-week closure for renovation work, MARTA reopened the Airport station to passengers on Monday, May 20. More than 10,000 airport travelers and employees board and get off at the rail network's southernmost station on a daily basis, according to the agency.<\p>

Investors could be launching a bit of a comeback in the U.S. housing market — although the reversal of fortunes comes amid a strategy shift for many investors in the face of low inventory. <\p> Purchases by investors grew 0.5% on a year-over-year basis in Q1, according to analysis by Redfin Corp. (Nasdaq: RDFN). Redfin defines an investor as any buyer whose name includes LLC, Inc., Trust, Corp. or Homes, or any buyer whose ownership code on a purchasing deed includes association, corporate trustee, company, joint venture or corporate trust.<\p>
