    Culinary Excellence: A Conversation with Chef Deborah VanTrece

    On this Thursday's exciting segment of "Hot Spots" on The Rashad Richey Morning Show , renowned senior editor at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Mike Jordan , and leading the Black culture team, Chef Deborah VanTrece , founder and CEO of Van Tries Hospitality Group, discussed the culinary world and the impact of Chef Deborah's work in Atlanta.

    Mr. Jordan began by praising Chef Deborah, stating that she is elevating Atlanta's culinary scene far beyond what is typically considered "black restaurant tourism." He highlighted some of the restaurants she has opened, including Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours Atlanta , and Oreatha's At The Point . He emphasized that Chef Deborah is on the level of some of the greatest chefs in the world and is doing exceptional work in the culinary industry.

    Chef Deborah then spoke about her journey, starting as a flight attendant for American Airlines over 20 years ago. Her travels around the world influenced her understanding of culture and cuisine, leading her to create the CEO she is today. She spoke about how she wanted to take traditional soul food to a different level, incorporating influences from various cultures and presenting it in a more modern and appealing way.

    One of Chef Deborah's recent endeavors is opening a restaurant in Cascade Heights. She explained that she chose this location because she saw an opportunity to transform the neighborhood into a culinary destination. She wanted to bring good food and service to an area that was often overlooked by other restaurateurs.

    The interview also touched on Chef Deborah's community work during the COVID-19 pandemic, where she was honored for her advocacy and awareness of social dysfunction. She was recognized by Good Morning America and the Coca-Cola Company for her efforts in helping the community during a challenging time.

    Mr. Jordan recommended Oreatha's At The Point as a must-visit restaurant for the weekend, praising the aesthetic, service, and outstanding food. He specifically mentioned the Thai catfish and the collard greens salad as standout dishes that are not to be missed.
