On The Rashad Richey Morning Show today, chairman of the Health and Wellness committee at 100 Black Men of Atlanta Incorporated Dr. Winston Carhee , discussed the organization's upcoming event focused on raising awareness about diabetes and promoting community health and wellness. He was joined by the esteemed Collegiate 100 Morehouse Chapter President Elijah Turner and Collegiate 100 Spellman Chapter Co-president Anjali Gamble. Together, they highlighted the event's profound impact and underscored the vital role of youth engagement in health education and advocacy endeavors.

The event, scheduled for April 6th, aims not only to address the immediate concerns of diabetes but also to emphasize the broader implications of the disease. Diabetes, often referred to as the "hype man" of underlying conditions, can lead to serious health complications such as blindness, kidney failure, and heart disease. By taking a proactive approach to health, the 100 Black Men of Atlanta and their partners seek to empower individuals to manage their well-being and prevent these preventable diseases.

The involvement of the collegiate 100 chapters, including Morehouse and Spelman, highlights the importance of youth engagement in promoting health education and awareness within their communities. Mr. Turner and Ms. Gamble stressed the significance of addressing both physical and mental health to create a comprehensive approach to wellness.

Through initiatives like Free ZOOM meetings for diabetes prevention and educational resources, the 100 Black Men of Atlanta are equipping individuals with the tools and knowledge needed to make informed decisions about their health. By emphasizing mental health alongside physical health, they are fostering a holistic understanding of well-being that extends beyond the individual to impact future generations.

Registration for the 5K race at runatlanta5k.com is open to all who wish to participate in this community-driven event. Donations to support the cause and further outreach efforts are also welcomed, as the organization continues to make a lasting impact on health disparities in the black community.

The efforts of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta to combat diabetes and promote overall health and wellness serve as a beacon of hope and progress for the community. The message is clear: together, we can make a difference.
