(670 The Score) Former Bears receiver Darnell Mooney has agreed to a three-year deal with the Falcons that's worth up to $39 million, according to reports Tuesday.

Mooney, 26, is coming off a frustrating season with the Bears in which he caught just 31 passes for 414 yards and a touchdown in 15 games.

In Atlanta, Mooney will land with a Falcons organization that reached an agreement Monday with veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins on a four-year deal. Former Bears general manager Ryan Pace, who selected Mooney in the fifth round in 2020, is an executive in the Falcons' front office.

The Bears weren't expected to be a suitor to re-sign Mooney this offseason.

"Mooney wishes he played a little bit better this year and things went better for him, made some more connections," Bears general manager Ryan Poles said. "But I know he’s going to bounce back and have a really good year."

Mooney broke through with 61 receptions as a rookie in 2020, then posted 81 catches for 1,055 yards in his second NFL season. But he had only a combined 907 receiving yards across the past two seasons.

Mooney's deal with the Falcons can become official Wednesday at 3 p.m. CT at the start of the NFL's new league year.
