A new mixed-use development set to include affordable housing is rolling forward, with Atlanta BeltLine Inc. and Invest Atlanta approving the selection of developers for the project.

Culdesac and Atlanta’s own Urban Oasis Development make up the team working on Murphy Crossing . Atlanta BeltLine Inc. selected Culdesac for Murphy Crossing in 2022 . Also working on the project are Kronberg Urbanists + Architects , LDG Consulting and T. Dallas Smith and Co.

The 20-acre Murphy Crossing development is set to include about 1,100 new residential units and commercial space. Thirty percent of the housing units are expected to be affordable to households earning 60 to 80 percent of the area median income (AMI).

Plans for the development “prioritize the preservation of land for a pedestrian and bicycle-friendly neighborhood and promote easy access to public transit and the BeltLine corridor,” according to a news release.

Culdesac’s past work includes a pedestrian-friendly, vehicle-free neighborhood built in its home base of Tempe, Arizona. Murphy Crossing will be located near several MARTA stations.

Bordered by Adair Park and Capitol View, the site in Oakland City used to house the Georgia State Farmers Market.
