A local breakfast spot is expanding its brand with a new location paying tribute to the late Hank Aaron.

Grits and Eggs Breakfast Kitchen is expected to open its fifth location at 565 Hank Aaron Drive this summer.

“We’re looking to make sure that it’s a tourist spot,” co-owner Mike Glover told What Now Atlanta .

A picture of Aaron at bat will adorn one of the walls from floor to ceiling. A baby grand piano painted with statistics about Aaron and his illustrious career will sit in the restaurant. The space will also feature a framed copy of a 1974 edition of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution , celebrating the day of his 715th home run in a game against the Dodgers, a move that broke Babe Ruth’s home run record.

There will be a seat and one of the letters from the original stadium, the former Turner Field, which stands just south of the planned restaurant. The stadium is now called Center Parc Stadium, home of the Georgia State Panthers football team.

Glover said the new location will “most definitely” offer the same menu as the other ones. The menu includes a variety of omelettes, pancakes, sandwiches, coffee beverages and, of course, grits.

Grits and Eggs Breakfast Kitchen first opened in Vinings in 2021, followed by outposts in Midtown Atlanta, Marietta, and the newest one in Buckhead, which opened about four weeks ago at 2625 Piedmont Road. The location offers free parking, seating for 120 people, and reservations for large parties.

They know how to expand fast.

“We had three stores open up in seven months,” Glover said.

The new Summerhill location will be at the 565 Hank by Windsor apartments, a luxury residential complex with ground-floor commercial space. It is expected to be open in about two months, Glover said.
