The tragic death of Deacon Holloman at the hands of an out-of-control Atlanta police officer and a bystander driving a wrecker shocked the community and sparked a cry for justice. The recent $3.8 million settlement by the City of Atlanta may have brought some closure to the family, but it is just the beginning of the fight for justice.

Attorney Mawuli Mel Davis , from the Johnson Law firm , and Arnitra Holloman , the daughter of Deacon Holloman, joined The Rashad Richey Morning Show to discuss the case and the next steps in seeking justice. The civil settlement was a step in the right direction, but the family is adamant about holding the responsible parties accountable in the criminal justice system as well.

The details of what happened during the tragic exchange were horrifying. Deacon Holloman, a son of Atlanta who loved his city, called the police for help in a traffic accident but ended up being violently attacked by the officer. The officer's belligerence escalated the situation, leading to Deacon Holloman's untimely death. The presence of a tow truck driver, who aided in the attack, made the situation even more devastating.

Attorney Davis explained that the incident was avoidable and criminal in nature. The unjust policies that led to Deacon Holloman's death have since been overturned, but the fight for justice continues. The family, along with a coalition of organizations and community leaders, is determined to see criminal charges brought against the officer and the tow truck driver.

Ms. Holloman shared a touching tribute to her father, describing him as a courageous and God-fearing man who always put others before himself. She emphasized his strong faith and his belief in putting God first, no matter the circumstances. Deacon Holloman's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

The fight for justice is far from over, but the family remains hopeful and determined. They are grateful for the support they have received from the community and are calling for continued advocacy to hold the responsible parties accountable. The family remains firm in their belief that criminal charges must be brought forth to ensure that justice is served for Deacon Holloman.
