A Louisiana-born sports bar co-owned by former NFL quarterback Drew Brees is eyeing expansion in the Peach State.

Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux has announced it is targeting Atlanta in its next phase of franchise growth.

Jennifer Striepling , chief development officer for Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux, said the company wants to make Atlanta its home after moving their corporate headquarters to the city a few months ago.

“We’ll always have roots in Baton Rouge where we started, and we have multiple restaurants throughout Louisiana, but Atlanta seemed like a natural progression,” she told What Now Atlanta . “Atlanta is an amazing city. Everytime you turn around, it’s growing.”

They are actively looking for real estate so that locations are ready to go once franchise partners are identified. Suburban neighborhoods are key, Striepling said. Ideally, the first of the new locations would be open this fall or by the end of this year.

Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux first opened in 2003 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The company signed an agreement last year to open the brand’s first Atlanta-area restaurant in Marietta. There is now a location in Warner Robins as well. In total, there are almost 80 locations currently open across 15 states.

The menu infuses authentic Cajun cuisine into sports bar staples. Striepling’s top recommendations: the fried alligator bites and the mozzarella logs.

“It’s a fun experience that you have partake in,” she said. “You can’t leave without doing the mozzarella log.”
