New Commercial Building, Housing Planned for South Atlanta

A mixed-use project featuring commercial and residential space at a South Atlanta corner is moving forward.

Brownsville Pointe , planned for the corner of McDonough Boulevard SE and Jonesboro Road SE, would include a wedge-shaped commercial structure with two residential buildings behind it, Urbanize Atlanta first reported . Demolition is expected to kick off soon, according to the news outlet.

The team behind the project is Focused Community Strategies , an Atlanta-based nonprofit focused on community development and revitalization. The organization specializes in mixed-income housing and economic development in South Atlanta.

They also created the grocery store Carver Market and the coffee shop Community Grounds , both of which are located right across the street from Brownsville Pointe.

Kronberg Urbanists + Architects is working on Brownsville Pointe. According to LoopNet , the commercial building is expected to include 2,765 square feet of retail space, along with streetscape upgrades and additional parking.
