Outlaw Music Festival When: June 21 Where: Ameris Bank Amphitheatre Cost: $75+ Details: Headliners and legendary musicians Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan play for the tour’s kick-off show in Alpharetta, joined by bluegrass stars Robert Plant and Alison Krauss and singer-songwriter Celisse. Listen to the artists while shopping at the festival’s jewelry, clothing, and beauty vendors.
Juneteenth Atlanta Parade and Music Festival When: June 21-June 23 Where: Piedmont Park Cost: Free Details: Juneteenth Atlanta returns for a weekend of musical performances, activities, shopping, pageants, and food, plus the annual 5K Freedom Run. If you can’t make the Juneteenth Black History parade—which starts on Auburn Avenue near the King Center and runs to Piedmont Park—it’ll be broadcast on Atlanta News First and Peachtree TV.
10th Anniversary of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights When: June 21-June 23 Where: National Center for Civil and Human Rights Cost: Free to $25 Details: Grab some cocktails and explore the NCCHR’s galleries on Friday for their 21+ “Truth on the Rocks” anniversary celebration, and then bring the kids along for an all-ages free admission day on Saturday. If you can’t make it then, the Center also offers discount admission on Sunday for their grand opening anniversary (as the center opened on June 23, 2014), featuring a performance by Harambee Dance Company.
Tyler Mitchell: Idyllic Space Exhibition When: June 21-December 1 Where: High Museum of Art Cost: $23.50; free for museum members Details: Explore the idea of a Black utopia in Atlanta artist Tyler Mitchell’s new exhibit, showcasing over 30 photographs on a variety of themes including masculinity, motherhood, and the natural world. Mitchell earned international fame when became the first Black photographer to shoot Vogue ‘s cover, photographing Beyoncé for the magazine in 2018.
Atlanta Summer Beer Fest When: June 22 Where: Historic Fourth Ward Park Cost: $55 in advance, $65 at door Details: Sample more than 150 local, domestic, and international beers; wines; cocktails; and seltzers at the festival, which also includes a souvenir cup and free live music. Parking is limited, so using a rideshare service is strongly encouraged.
