Top draft prospect Alex Sarr made waves on Tuesday when it was confirmed by Hawks GM Landry Fields that he declined to workout for the team. The Hawks, who own the No. 1 pick in Wednesday's NBA Draft, are now tasked with the decision of drafting Sarr regardless of his potential feelings about playing in Atlanta. Sarr spent time in the city playing for Overtime Elite and their GM Damien Wilkins stopped by Dukes & Bell.

Wilkins says that "strange things happen around draft time" referring to speculation and reports about Sarr not wanting to workout for the Hawks and why that might be. He could be taking advice from his agents or perhaps he made the decision himself to decline the workout. Wilkins said Sarr enjoyed his time in Atlanta from what he perceived but did not know personally if he currently has an issue with the team. He added that Sarr is the surefire number one pick no matter where he lands in the draft.

It is now up to the Hawks to either take Sarr at the risk of him being a disgruntled player or attempting to lure another team to trade for him in an effort to restock picks lost in the Dejounte Murray trade.
