Adam Duvall's walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning leads Atlanta to a 2-1 win over the Pirates.

Just like what happened in his previous start against the Tampa Bay Rays, Paul Skenes gave up a lead off home run in the first inning and then dominated the rest of the game. Jarred Kelenic jumped on a 98 mph fastball and hit it over the right field wall to make it 1-0 Braves.

Skenes wouldn't allow another run the rest of the game as he went 6 innings, 1 run and 9 strikeouts. It's the third straight start for Skenes going at least 6 innings, allowing 6 hits and just 1 earned run.

"To not have his best stuff and give up one run to that lineup, tells you how good his stuff is. He made an adjustment mid game and I think we saw the last three innings, the guy we've seen over 4-5 starts," said manager Derek Shelton.

The Pirates tied the game in the top of the 5th when Edward Olivares hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring home the tying run from third base.

In the top of the 9th inning, Bryan Reynolds came to the plate 0-4 in the game, riding a 24 game hit streak. Reynolds hit a 2-1 slider to right field and out of the reach of a leaping Adam Duvall off the wall. Reynolds tripled to extend his streak to a season leading 25 games.

Aroldis Chapman pitched in the bottom of the 9th inning and made history becoming the all-time strikeouts leader in MLB history for a left handed reliever. He passed Billy Wagner after his 103 mph fastball struck out Sean Murphy to end the inning. Chapman now has 1,197 strikeouts.

In the top of the 10th inning, with a runner on third and one out, Braves pitcher Daysbel Hernández threw a wild pitch to the netting behind home plate. Travis D'arnaud grabbed the ball on the hop and fired it to Hernandez who put the tag on Olivares, trying to score from third.

Olivares was called safe by the home plate umpire. Brian Snitker challenged the call. Replay clearly showed Olivares never got his foot down on his slide before the tag was applied. The call would be overturned and the Pirates did not score in the 10th.

"He got a read, it was not off the brick, they made a really good play. It's one of those bang-bang. If he doesn't run and we don't score everybody says 'wait why didn't he run?' So it's one of those things," said Shelton.

Pittsburgh is now 3-17 in the last 20 games in Atlanta.
